What should I do with my life?

One of my favorite videos games is SimCity where you create your world.

I'm going to admit that my creativity is limited so I created a world to just explore the game's tools, or I borrowed ideas from other players.

I keep thinking about what's the best way to teach students? Lucky for us our government agrees that a young adult needs to be in a classroom and they need high quality instruction. But what's the best way to do that?

From the student's perspective, how are you meeting my needs?

The question that all of us humans ask is "What should I do with my life?"

That question pointed me to SimCity for my answers. And I feel that the Washington Post agrees, "SimCity wants to be the killer app of the classroom"

I remember sitting in front of my computer for hours messing around with my SimCity. I would regularly not do my homework or study for tests to play a game. Part of that is good. What did I learn in the game that I didn't learn in class? Would my life been better had I put aside the game? Would my life had been better if I had put aside studying and focused MORE on the game?

I think that our education system can better prepare our future leaders by letting them explore the question "What should I do with my life?" and sometimes video games are a great resource to help answer that question.
