Cord-cutting still doesn't save money
I just saw this article about how cutting the cord doesn't save as much money as we thought. Basically with all of these video services requiring a monthly fee there isn't a big reason to switch from cable.
I haven't had cable tv and internet for almost a month now. I don't miss it! Isn't that crazy? I really don't watch much tv... so that wasn't a problem. I am not home enough to be bothered by not having home internet.
I update my phone/watch/laptop at free wifi places. And let me tell you, free wifi is everywhere!
I do want to tell one story of inconvenience. This story is more about me not planning things through than a real problem. I had a video chat with my college tutor (shoutout to Varsity Tutors!). I went to McDonald's for the free wifi. My Chromebook laptop didn't like it and recommend I not use it. That was odd! Check out this website for the problem that I had. - http://www.pocketables.com/2014/02/override-chromes-new-ssl-error-connect-real.html
The solution was to type in "badidea" into the browser. That wasn't fun! FYI that spells "BAD IDEA." Weird right?
So I drove to my gym and I felt like a goober there... so I left for the library. We did our session, I updated my laptop/phone/watch (that gets annoying) and went home.
Not a big issue, just something I'll have to plan for in the future. I downloaded an app for free wifi finder. https://www.itworld.com/article/2923034/mobile-wireless/is-this-the-best-free-wi-fi-finder-ever-it-just-might-be.html
Also, I have free wifi hotspot from Tmobile. It's REALLY slow but does the job for me to use my laptop at home if I need to respond to an email or check a message. I can't look at a youtube video with it. Speeds are about .5 mbps.
So that's it. Just a minor hiccup in the month of no home wifi or cable tv. See you again real soon!
